Luo Ergang

Luo Ergang, Chinese historian, born on 29th January, 1901. His hometown was Guixian Guangxi Province. After graduated from China’s Public College, he sorted out the posthumous manuscript of Hu Shi, and then worked in the Archaeology Office, Institute of Literature and Arts, Peking University, and the Institute of Social Sciences,National Central Academy. Soon he came to take charge of the Editting Committee for the History Materials of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and prepared the foundation of Museum of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. Although he was transferred to the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, he did not come back to Peking until 1964. He joined in CCP in 1958. And he had been the committee member of the second and fifth sessions of the Chinese People’ Political Consultative Conference.
