Li Shu, a Chinese historian, born on 7th February 1912. His hometown was Liling Hunan Province. He had studied in Commercial Science Department, Academy of Law and Commerce, Peking University. He joined in the Chinese Communist Party in 1936. After the Marc Polo Bridge Incident broke out in 1937, he threw himself in the Anti-Japanese War.And after People’s Republic of China was founded in 1949, he became the dean of the department of General Administration of Press and Publication.From 1950 to 1955 he had worked in Propaganda Department, and had been the dean of Secretary Office, chief of News Paper Section, chief of Publictation Section, and the dean of the office of the historic materials of CCP. From 1955 to 1960 he had been the chargehand of History Group of the Politics Departmen of the Central Committee of CCP.After 1961 he became the chief editor of Journal of History Study, and the associate president of the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He was criticized wrongly and lost his job for 8 years after the Great Culture Revolution broke out. In 1975 he recovered his job as the chief editor of Journal of History Study, and the associate president of the Institute of Modern History, Chiense Academy of Social Sciences. In 1980 he became the chief editor of Jounal of Chinese Social Sciences. In his old age, he had been the research fellow of CASS, the committee member of the Academic Committee, the committee member of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, the director of the Chinese History Society. And he had been the member of the 6th session of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
