Ding Shouhe

Ding Shouhe, born in Yaozhuang, Wangdu County, Hebei Province on 10th May 1926. He attended the revolutionary work in October 1946,and joined in the Chinese Communist Party in October 1947. Ding Shouhe graduated from Social Sciences Department, Nothern China University at the end of 1948, and became the secretary of the Secreariat of the ministrary of Organization of the Central Committee of CCP. In August 1950 he was transfered to the Central Editting and Translating Bureau to work, and he had been the Cadre Section Chief, the associate dean of the office, and the dean of the research department. In 1961 he was transferred to the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and became the dean of the editting department of  Journal of History Study, and the dean of the Department of the Cultural History. After 1977 he was in charge of preparing Journal of Modern Chinese History Study, and Collected Papers of the Chinese Culture. In December 1979 he became Research Fellow, and the chief editor of Journal of Modern Chinese History Study, and the dean of the Department of Cultural History. In April 1989 Ding Shouhe initiated and founded the Chinese Modern Culture Society and he became the president of the society. From 2002 he became the honorary president of the Chinese Modern Culture Scoiety. He had been the part-time professor in Peking Universiity and Henan University.He died of illness on 4th March 2008.
